FAQs
-
Regenerative landscaping is important because it goes beyond simply making outdoor spaces look beautiful, it actively restores and supports the health of the environment. Unlike conventional landscaping, which can often rely on resource-heavy practices and non-native plants, regenerative landscaping works in harmony with nature to create systems that are self-sustaining, ecologically beneficial, and climate-resilient.
Conventional methods often depend on synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, which pollute local waterways, harm pollinators, and degrade long-term soil health.
Regenerative landscaping eliminates the need for these inputs by designing for balance, encouraging biodiversity, supporting natural pest control, and building resilient plant communities from the ground up. Regenerative practices not only reduce harm, they actively repair damaged soils, rebuild ecosystems, and create living systems that continue to improve over time.

I use as many California native plants as I can thoughtfully integrate into the design. They’re incredibly well-suited to our climate, support local pollinators and wildlife, and require far less water and maintenance once established. That said, every space is different, and I balance native selections with other climate-adapted plants to create a garden that’s both ecologically supportive and aligned with your lifestyle and aesthetic.

Native State handles the design side from start to finish. It includes on-site consultation, custom plans, material selection, and coordination with tradespeople. I stay closely involved throughout the project to oversee workflow and make sure everything aligns with the vision and is installed to our specifications. I partner with a licensed contractor or landscape architect for the actual installation.

Traditional landscape companies typically offer quick, surface-level site visits to provide a quote for installation work. At Native State, our consultations go deeper. We offer in-person, hands-on guidance rooted in design expertise and years of experience. We have a background in interior design that brings an added layer of intention and cohesion to your outdoor space. You’ll walk away with a clear, customized roadmap that may include layout ideas, planting suggestions, regenerative landscaping principles, waterwise tricks, and ways to support local biodiversity. It’s more than just a consultation, it’s the foundation for a thoughtful, effortless transformation that brings your vision to life and helps your space thrive for years to come
